Once the liquid is at a high temperature and gathers pressure, it moves to the flow control mechanism. This decreases the pressure, transforming some condensation into a gas, or vapor phase. This cycle repeats continuously in the enclosed chiller system.

Absorbing chillers use hot water or a super heated pressurized vapor. There are few moving parts making them reliable and require less maintenance. They work in much the same way as the compressive units. These units are quite expensive, and when they need maintenance, it is quite costly. A company should weigh the cost before installing an absorbing chiller. Initial cost of compressive chillers is a bit less, the maintenance cost may be lower, but they also may need more maintenance as they have more moving parts.
